The effect was dose dependent and measured at both the lumbar spine and the femoral neck. Bone turnover markers moved in the expected direction too: CTX-1, bone specific alkaline phosphatase and RANKL fell, while osteoprotegerin rose. Markers of oxidative stress also improved from week 12 onward.
